Soldier Mans Starstreak HVM High Velocity Missile System During Exercise Olympic Guardian for London 2012

The Starstreak HVM (High Velocity Missile) is designed to counter threats from very high performance, low-flying aircraft and fast ‘pop up’ strikes by helicopter attacks.
Exercise Olympic Guardian is a large-scale security exercise to enable the military to prepare for the key role it will play during the London 2012 Olympic Games.
One option being considered is the deployment of surface-to-air missiles at key sites. Blackheath is one of a number of locations where Ground Based Air Defence system may be placed as part of the Air Security Plan for the 2012 Games. The Ground Based Air Defence systems known as Rapier and HVM, provide extra surveillance over the Olympic park, to detect unauthorised aircraft. As a last resort they can be used against threatening aircraft.

Chinook in North African Exercise

A Royal Air Force Chinook helicopter lifts off fom the North African desert in preparation for deployment to Afghanistan.
Working alongside Army Air Corps Lynx helicopters and an array of ground support personnel, the Chinook pilots and aircrew practiced dust landings and underslung load carrying among other vital tasks in an exercise called Jebel Sahara.

NORFOLK (July 12, 2011) Sailors assigned to Riverine Group (RIVGRU) 2 participate in pre-deployment exercises in a riverine command boat powered by an alternative fuel blend of 50 percent algae-based and 50 percent NATO F-76 fuels. A Royal Marine Taking Part in Exercise Green Osprey in Senegal

Exercise Green Osprey was a multi-national exercise conducted in Senegal, encompassing maritime and land components conducting riverine operations, a Brigade Recce Force concentration exercise named Royal Chamois, arid mobility training, Civil Military Cooperation work (CIMIC) and a final exercise (FTX).
The nations involved were Britain, Norway, Italy, USA, Spain, Holland and of course Senegal who, on this occasion, are commanded by the Commander Land Forces, Lt Colonel David King Royal Marines.
